While AFI may have put together a list of the top 100 American films of all time, Martin Scorsese has a lean, mean list of “85 films you need to see to know anything about film.” It’s a fascinating list, if for no other reason, it allows us to peer into the master craftman’s brain and see what films have inspired him through the years.
I’m not sure which frightens me more: How many of these I’ve never even heard of or how little time I’m going to have as I add this entire list to my Netflix queue.
