Paul Thomas Anderson’s first movie in five years has a trailer — and it’s wildly compelling.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been five years since There Will Be Blood. Just mentioning the title still sends a chill down my spine. The movie, like most of Paul Thomas Anderson’s work, disturbed, haunted, and inspired me. Love his work or hate his work, there’s something to be said about a writer or director who doesn’t put out a film every single year. I don’t know much about Paul Thomas Anderson, but I know when he puts out a film, people pay attention. His films are filled with broken people fighting for purpose or searching for relevance. They’re analytical, sometimes cynical, but more times than not, hopeful.
IMDB describes The Master as
A 1950s-set drama centered on the relationship between a charismatic intellectual known as “the Master” whose faith-based organization begins to catch on in America, and a young drifter who becomes his right-hand man.

The Master will be Anderson’s sixth feature length film and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
